Poker Face Charlotte Helps Pet Owners Afford Veterinary Care

Lodestone’s upcoming charity masquerade, Poker Face Charlotte, will raise money to support worthy causes in the Charlotte community, including one that helps our furry friends.

Murray’s Fund is a Charlotte-based non-profit that provides financial assistance to those pet owners without the financial resources to treat their pet’s cancer. Based out of Carolina Veterinary Specialists, Murray’s Fund was founded by veterinary oncologist Dr. Claudia McFadden and her husband Bryan.

Lodestone Owner Marissa Boyle explains how she came to know about Murray’s Fund:

I met Claudia (Dr. McFadden) when she treated my dog Paco. Paco had developed lymphoma, a blood-based cancer that affects the immune system. We treated him at least once a week for two years before we finally had to make the decision to let him go. I count myself lucky I had access to such great care.

Claudia is an extraordinary human and such a compassionate veterinarian. She started Murray’s Fund to help those pet owners who can’t afford to give their animals the veterinary treatment they need.

Please join us on October 25 for Poker Face Charlotte, and you’ll help us support Murray’s Fund, Alzheimer’s Association Western Carolina and Title I school Belleview Elementary.

*So who is Murray? Murray was a special little dog with a big heart and bigger spirit and her owners happened to be Oncologist Claudia McFadden, and her husband, Bryan. He is the generous spirit behind Murray’s Fund.
